EXTREME WEATHER

November 14, 2011

EXTREME WEATHER OR POWER FAILURE

Heavy snowfalls very seldom close Delta schools.  If there are extreme weather conditions and the district decides to close our school or all Delta schools, the decision will be made by 7:00 a.m. and the closure will be announced on all local radio stations.  We do not announce that schools are open.

If snowfall comes during the school day or if power fails during the school day, students will not be dismissed early unless each student’s parents have been contacted. In the event of power failure, we have only one emergency line out, so it is unlikely that we would be able to contact all of our parents.  We would keep the children at school until the normal dismissal time.  If the power is off early in the morning before school starts, the school is technically open until the Superintendent closes it and announces it on the radio.  If there is a wide spread power failure in North Delta during the night, please check that we have power before dropping children off.
